I have been learning about the Glycemic Index and different food ratings for several years. In an effort to be healthier and to decrease my risk for diabetes and heart disease I limit my food intake to low and medium foods on the index. All Carb foods have a rating low - med - high. A high glycemic food will raise your blood glucose levels after eating it. Low GI foods will not and med foods have a mild increase of blood glucose after eating them. The high GI foods will cause your bodies ability to create insulin to “wear out” over time. This is one reason as people age they have a higher risk of diabetes. Here is a website dedicated to educating people on the Glycemic Index.
Here is a list of foods that are high glycemic that I have removed from my diet:

  • Watermelon
  • Cooked Carrots
  • Corn
  • Potatoes
  • White Rice
  • White Bread
  • Sweets

I have replaced some of these foods with:

  • Green Leafy Vegetables
  • Sweet Potatoes (without marshmallows)
  • Whole Wheat Pasta
  • Grain Type Breads
  • Plenty of Vegetables

Have a great evening

Preservative Free Skin Care

I have never really used a Skin Care System before now because all skin products have preservatives in them which promote aging. I figured no products (just water) was better than using age promoting products that cost a lot of money.

I recently found a company that is making a preservative free line of skin care that has a shelf life of one year without being refrigerated. It will not cause aging and it will not grow bacteria either. I have been using it for about 1 week now and I notice a big difference in the moisture of my skin as well as a reduction in redness. My skin just feels healthier.
